Ann Hamilton is an artist who works at the perimeter of many mediums. She is unique in implementing a very curious, highly sensual photographic technique, that of using her own mouth as an aperture for a human-scale pinhole camera. She applies this process in order to push her perimeters, to get below the surface of the photographic medium and to elicit subconscious viewer response by conjuring memories rooted also in the physical—maybe even bordering on Synesthesia.
